March 8, 2017 – America’s Retirement Crisis: How it Happened and How to Fix It

As more Americans than ever before approach retirement with inadequate savings in their 401(k) plans, the issue of retirement security is becoming a hot topic. What can be done to reform retirement plans so the next generation can avoid some of the pitfalls that plagued baby boomers, such as high fees, inadequate contributions and poor investment returns? Join an evening hosted by Blackstone and the New York Financial Writers’ Association that will explore the problems and solutions to America’s retirement crisis.

This event will feature a conversation with Blackstone President Tony James and New School economist Teresa Ghilarducci, who will discuss their proposed solution with Washington Post financial columnist Allan Sloan. Attendees will receive a copy of James’s and Ghilarducci’s book, Rescuing Retirement.

The evening will begin with a reception featuring drinks and appetizers at 6 p.m., followed by a panel discussion at 7 p.m. moderated by Sloan and Q&A. RSVPs are mandatory and you must sign up by March 7th.

This event is only open to NYFWA members in good standing. Guests are welcome to attend for a fee of $15, which must be paid in advance through the following link: http://nyfwa.org/estore
