Over the last five years, Puerto Rico has been roiled by a series of crises—from a bankrupt economy to a government beleaguered by failed leadership and a hurricane that decimated the island. This panel of journalists, sponsored by the McGraw Center for Business Journalism at the Newmark Graduate J-School, will examine how well the media has covered these interconnected challenges, along with the island’s ongoing attempts to restructure and recover. Moderator Luis Trelles, an editor & producer of NPR’s Radio Ambulante, will speak with panelists Carla Minet, executive director of the San Juan-based Center for Investigative Journalism; Patricia Mazzei, the New York Times‘ Miami bureau chief; Adrian Florido, a reporter for NPR’s Code Switch; and Reuters
