February 6, 2024 –– Author Zeke Faux on Number Go Up: The Crypto Book Everyone is Talking About

In 2021, cryptocurrency was the next big thing. No one really knew what it was or how it worked, but it was clear some people were making a fortune off it. So Bloomberg News investigative reporter Zeke Faux decided to dig into it. "What started as a curiosity -- with a dash of FOMO -- would morph into a two-year, globe-spanning quest to understand the wizards behind the world's new financial machinery," Faux says on his website. He gained access to crypto scammers, utopians, overnight billionaires and Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF for short) -- before his epic fall from grace. He also paid $20,000 for an image of a cartoon monkey to get into the elite party "ApeFest". You can learn all about that, and more, at NYFWA's next event.

Number Go Up: Inside Crypto's Wild Rise and Staggering Fall has been described as "laugh-out-loud funny" and the best crypto book ever written. Join us on Tuesday, Feb. 6th, to hear directly from Faux himself on what it took to conceive of the idea, to follow the story around the world and to, finally, write it out. The discussion will be moderated by NYFWA president Olivia Carville. Audience questions are encouraged. Networking over light refreshments will follow.
