April 15, 2019 – An Evening With SEC Commissioner Robert Jackson

Members and guests of the New York Financial Writers Association are invited to spend an evening in conversation with SEC Commissioner Robert J. Jackson.

Since his appointment to the Securities and Exchange Commission in January 2018, Commissioner Jackson has been an outspoken advocate of bringing greater transparency and oversight to U.S capital markets. He has been a vocal proponent of the SEC's effort to study the impact of limiting stock trading fees and rebates offered by exchanges, ensuring that exchanges charge fair and reasonable prices for their data feeds, and boosting disclosure on dark pool operators. He has also called on the SEC to review rules governing stock buybacks by company insiders.

Join us to better understand these and other issues facing investors in an evening discussion moderated by NYFWA President Cezary Podkul. The evening will begin at 6 p.m. with a reception featuring drinks and appetizers, followed by a discussion with the Commissioner at 7 p.m. and general questions and answers from the audience. The evening will wrap up by 8:30.

Prior to his appointment to the SEC, Mr. Jackson taught law and New York University and Columbia Law School, where he headed up Columbia's Program on Corporate Law and Policy. He is a graduate of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and holds a master's degree from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government a law degree from Harvard Law School.

Cezary is a senior reporter at the Wall Street Journal, where he pursues investigative projects with a focus on Wall Street. He previously wrote for ProPublica and Reuters.
