February 19, 2020 – Empowering Women in Newsrooms

Join the NYFWA for an evening with Press Forward co-founder Carolyn McGourty Supple, Bloomberg Senior Executive Editor Laura Zelenko and Bloomberg Diversity Editor Rebecca Greenfield to discuss empowering women in newsrooms. The panel will address the impact of the #MeToo movement, the gender pay gap, unconscious bias, workplace rights and training initiatives to avoid sexual harassment and elevate women in newsrooms.

Former ABC News journalist, Carolyn McGourty Supple is the executive director of Press Forward, a nonprofit initiative that arose from the #MeToo movement to find solutions to newsroom diversity issues through training.

Laura Zelenko, a senior executive editor at Bloomberg News, oversees talent, diversity, training and standards in the newsroom. She helped build Bloomberg’s New Voices initiative, which aims to improve the representation of women sources in both online and on-air content.

The conversation will be moderated by Rebecca Greenfield, who oversees Bloomberg’s coverage of race, gender and class in business. She’s also the host of The Pay Check, a podcast about the gender pay gap.

The evening will begin at 6.30 p.m. with a reception featuring drinks and appetizers. The discussion will begin at 7 p.m. and the evening will wrap up by 8:30.
