May 23rd, 2018 – The NYFWA's 42nd Annual Elliott V. Bell Award Ceremony Honoring Greg David

Greg David spent more than two decades as the editor of Crain’s, covering the city’s business, economic and political issues. He appears frequently on media outlets discussing political and business issues, is the author of “Modern New York: The Life and Economics of a City,” now serves as the director of the business journalism program at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism, in addition to continuing to write a blog and print column for Crain’s New York Business. He is also director of the Ravitch Fiscal Reporting Program at the school providing advanced training for state and local reporters around the country.

The New York Financial Writers’ Association is proud to announce David as the recipient of its annual Elliott V. Bell Award, which honors journalists who have made a significant contribution to the field of financial journalism. To celebrate David's achievement, the association will host an award reception at the CUNY Journalism School on Wednesday, May 23rd.

As part of the evening, David will moderate a panel with notable writers and editors on "The Five Changes Coming in Business & Economic Journalism." The discussion will explore how business journalism is changing and will feature the following panelists: Adam Auriemma, editor in chief of Money; Ben Casselman, a business and economics reporter with an emphasis on data-driven story telling for The New York TimesCara Eisenpress, a writer for Crain's New York Business and the author of cook book "In the Small Kitchen"  and the founder of website Big Girls, Small Kitchen; Matt Townsend, a reporter for Bloomberg; and Ashley Rodriguez, a reporter for Quartz.

 

The evening will begin at 6 p.m. with a reception featuring drinks and appetizers, followed by the award ceremony and panel. This event is only open to NYFWA members in good standing for 2018. Guests are welcome to attend for $15, which must be paid in advance hereRSVPs are mandatory, as you cannot get into the building if your name is not on the list.
