If so, check out The McGraw Fellowship for Business Journalism, an initiative of the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism designed to support ambitious coverage of critical issues related to U.S. economy and business.

October 3rd, 2017 – Tipper X: The Inside Story of a Whistleblower

Hear how Tom Hardin went from being a successful long-short equity analyst, to an inside trader and eventually a central whistleblower in the FBI's 2007-2008 investigation of the hedge fund industry. Known only as "Tipper X" until his identity was ultimately revealed by the FBI, Hardin was a critical figure in the bureau's investigation and ultimately helped build more than 20 criminal cases, including the demise of $3.7 billion hedge fund firm Galleon Group.

August 14, 2017 – Networking Night

What better way to break up the dog days of summer than a night of networking with your fellow financial writers on a rooftop bar?

Join the NYFWA for an evening of networking over drinks and appetizers. As always, there will be light appetizers and NYFWA members get their first two drinks free.

*This event is only open to members in good standing. Guests may attend for a $15 fee, which must be paid in advance.

June 29, 2017 – First 2017 Financial Follies Book Committee Meeting

November may still be 5 ½ months away, but it is time to start thinking about this year’s Financial Follies –which will clearly not suffer from a lack of material! If you are interested in helping to generate topic ideas and write songs for this year’s show, you won’t want to miss the first meeting of the Financial Follies book committee.

 

The First 2017 Financial Follies book committee meeting will be on Thursday, June 29 at 6 p.m. at Pete's Tavern.

Cezary Podkul Moving to Wall Street Journal

NYFWA member Cezary Podkul is moving over to the Wall Street Journal in July, where he will be part of the paper’s enterprise team lead by David Enrich. Cezary is currently a reporter at ProPublilca.

The Passage of Longtime NYFWA Member David Kogut

Longtime NYFWA member David H. Kogut passed away on April 18th following a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis. 

No obituary has been published and no additional details are available.
