Join your fellow NYFWA members for an evening of networking over drinks and appetizers. As always, there will be light appetizers and NYFWA members get their first two drinks free.
 

*This event is only open to members in good standing. Guests may attend for a $15 fee, which must be paid in advance.

September 19, 2016 – From Journalist to Entrepreneur: Creating Your Next (and Biggest) Moneymaking Opportunity

With traditional journalism jobs disappearing, it’s more than likely that the challenge to earn a living is a lot higher than when you started your career. Instead of looking for employment, sometimes there are opportunities to parlay the expertise gained from covering business and finance to creatre you own company -which is exactly what panelists Charlie Welsh, Gabriel DeSanctis and Christian Murray each managed to do.

July 31, 2016 – The Common Ground Committee’s Debate on Tax Reform in Nantucket, MA

NYFWA members are invited to attend a debate on tax reform featuring former Congressman Barney Frank.

Common Ground Committee, a non-profit group dedicated to fostering civil discourse and finding common ground on controversial policy issues, is holding a public forum Sunday, July 31 at 8 pm on the topic, “Finding Common Ground on Taxes.” The forum will be held at the Unitarian Meeting House at 11 Orange St. in Nantucket, MA

July 31, 2016 – Picnic in Central Park

Don’t let the dog days of summer get you down. Instead, why not gather with your friends and family, along with some of your fellow NYFWA members, for a picnic in Central Park. We’ll supply the food and snacks, we just ask that everyone please bring their own beverages. We hope you can join us! And feel free to bring along prospective members.

When: July 31 at 1 p.m.

Where: The “pool” area of Central Park (101st Street & Central Park West)

July 14, 2016 – Networking Night & Wine Tasting

Join your fellow NYFWA members, along with members of the financial journalism community at large, for an evening of networking and socializing. This event will include appetizers and a wine tasting guided by Some Good Wine's sommelier. This event is being co-hosted by student lending platform CommonBond and will take place at their offices in SoHo.

When: July 14, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Where: CommonBond’s offices: 524 Broadway, 6th floor (between Spring/Broome)

May 18, 2016 – The NYFWA's 40th Elliott V. Bell Award Ceremony

Join members of the New York Financial Writers’ Association for the presentation of our 2015 Elliott V. Bell Award, which will be awarded to Dan Hertzberg for his significant contribution to the world of financial journalism during his 46 year career. Hertzberg, a 1988 Pulitzer Prize winner, is the 40th recipient of the Elliott V. Bell Award, which is named after the NYFWA’s founding president and which recognizes individuals who have made long-term contributions to financial journalism and have had a significant impact on the industry. 

May 9th, 2016 – May Networking Night/2016 Scholarship Presentations

Join your fellow NYFWA members to honor recipients of the New York Financial Writers' Association's 2016 scholarships -the next crop of financial journalists. 

As always, the evening will feature light appetizers and NYFWA members’ first two drinks are on us.
